Part time Operations Manager

Hope Rising Farm Trust is a faith based charity located in Ngaruawahia. We run equine and farm based programmes aimed at instilling confidence and changing lives of vulnerable youth and women in the local community using our friendly equines in a peaceful, fun, farm environment.


We are currently seeking someone with operational management experience, preferably in the charity sector to lead our team and oversee the general business functions of the Trust. The Operations Manager will lead a small, dedicated team who all have a passion to help those vulnerable teenagers and women who need support. It will be a part time role of between 20-25 hours per week with the possibility (dependent on funding) of increasing to fulltime.


The position will report to the Board of Trustees and will involve working closely with local community groups, schools, funders and our tightly knit team. As we rely heavily on funding grants and donations, we require someone who has experience applying for funding or has a strong understanding of the processes involved. Preferable, but not essential is some familiarity with farm life and an interest or working knowledge of equines.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • be able to develop and maintain budgets

  • understand the importance and procedures of the funding application process

  • have exceptional staff management skills

  • be able to under basic business management principles

  • have strong marketing skills

  • have the ability to communicate and negotiate well with all levels of stakeholders

  • have strong IT skills and experience

  • have a basic understanding of compliance requirements for charities

  • have some farm and equine knowledge and/or experience (preferable but not essential)
